Ingredients
 1.50 cups Peas dal or vada parippu
 15 Small Onions
 Small Piece of Ginger
 2 Green Chillies
 3 Dry Red Chillies
 2 Sprigs Curry Leaves
 1 pinch Asafoetida Powder
 Salt to Taste
 Oil to Fry
Method

Normally people use chana dal to make vadas. But, this is a peas dal vada recipe that tastes just amazing. Vadas can also be called as Indian Falafels. See, here the method to making these delicious snack - vadas.

First, soak the dal for two hours. Then you can drain them for half an hour so that the water is completely drained out. Now, chop the vegetables into small pieces. You can use the vegetable choppers for convenience.

Then to the vegetable mix, add in the asafoetida and salt. Mix it well till all the spices combine properly with the vegetables. Meanwhile, you can keep about 2 tbsp of dal seperately.

Now, make sure to grind the dal coarsely. After that, mix in the rest of the dal and chopped vegetable mix. Combine it all well.

After that, you can wet your hands and make small balls out of this mix. Then. flatten it a little with the palm and shape it like the patties.

Meanwhile, heat oil as required in a pan. Once, its hot drop in the vadas or fritters and deep fry them till they turn golden on both the sides. When its crispy and golden brown, you can serve them up to your guests.

Note: They taste awesome as they are, but served with coconut chutney or ketchup it is simply irresistible. This is best for a cold and rainy evening to have with your tea, but that does not mean you cannot have it on a summer evening.
