Ragi Idli - this is a perfect breakfast recipe and what more it is healthy as well. Idli is considered as a healthy breakfast, especially in South India. It is really very easy to make. Kids are gonna love this for sure along with the health-conscious adults. This healthy idli as you know is steam cooks and zero oil and is loaded with the benefits of ragi.

Team it with some yummy coconut chutney or tomato chutney or sambar and your breakfast is ready.

As said earlier, we need to wait for the ragi, rice and urad dal to get soaked. You need to soak them separately. Soak ragi and rice for 5 hours separately. And urad dal has to be soaked for just 1 hour.

Once it is soaked, you have to grind them in the mixer. Here too you need to follow certain rules. The first thing that goes into the mixer should be the urad dal. Add some water and grind it well to make a smooth paste. the next can be ragi and then rice. Mix the batter really well. Now you add some salt as required and keep it to ferment. The fermentation process can take from 5 - 8 hours, depending on the climate of the place you are living in.

Once the batter has fermented properly, it is ready and you can make idlis with it. For this grease an idli tray and pour batter to it. Steam cook it till done. Click here to know about steam cooking.
